FOLEY, Alabama — The Baldwin Genealogical Society will celebrate its 25th anniversary from 10 to 12 a.m. Saturday.

Everyone interested in beginning or enhancing their family history research is invited to attend the celebration in the Foley Public Library, second floor meeting room.

Jeanette Bornholt, Foley Library’s genealogy specialist, will open the event with a historical (and humorous) brief on the founding of the society and its developments over the past two decades.

After Bornholt’s presentation and cake cutting, there will be a tour of the genealogy resource area where information will be shared on the varied research material available. Attendees can also view the pictorial exhibits, and be introduced to the many ways to compile the information.

Guests will see demonstrations of Internet research and Ancestry access, pick up free guides on starting their genealogy and the best Internet sites to visit, as well as have an opportunity to win some door prizes. Refreshments will be served. Drop-in attendees are welcome.

Foley Public Library is at 319 E. Laurel Ave. The Baldwin County Genealogical Society is a nonprofit organization that meets the second Saturday of each month at the Foley Library and is open to the interested public.
