BRIEF: Cookout to benefit Genealogical Society

The Lee County Genealogical Society will have a cookout from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Dixon Food Center, 500 Chicago Ave.

The cost is $3.50 for a hamburger or hot dog; $4.50 for a brat; $5.50 for a pork chop; and 50 cents for chips and a drink.

Proceeds benefit the society’s library at 111 S. Hennepin Ave., which is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday; and by appointment.
