Genealogical society and university women select contest winners

The West Valley Genealogical Society and the America Association
of University Women challenged the Marley Park and Canyon Ridge
schools’ fifth through seventh-graders to two contests honoring the
Arizona Centennial. The challenge required submission of an essay
or drawing related to Arizona’s first 100 years. The winners,
selected by a panel of West Valley Genealogical Society members,
were honored with ribbons identifying their placement in the
contests and were posted for viewing by the several hundred guests
who visited the library’s open house on Jan. 29.

The winners: 5th Grade — Canyon Ridge School; Essays: 1st place
— Ayana Wallace; 2nd — Jayden Donley; 3rd — Gabriella M. Garcia.
Art Work: 1st place — Gabriella Garcia; 2nd — Layla Costello; 3rd —
Georgia Ferenick.

6th Grade — Marley Park Elementary School; 6th Grade Art Work:
1st place — Olivia Bishop; 2nd — Daniette Egharevba and Sara Alger;
3rd — Kai Sanford.

7th Grade Essays: 1st place — Adam Bishop; 2nd — Kiera Wesley;
3rd – Isabelle Ward.
