— The Simsbury Free Library has planned two free genealogy workshops to be held June 23 and July 28.
The first, Part I of a two-part program on genealogy research in federal records, will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. In this session, participants will do hand-on research using the Social Security Death Index and military records, and should bring information on an ancestor or family to research.
The second session will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on July 28. In this session, participants will explore naturalization and census data and find out about the arrival of immigrants to the United States. Guests attending this session should also be prepared to research a specific ancestor or family.
The workshops will be lead by Diane LeMay, SFL’s genealogist, and are open to the public.
Registration is requested via phone at 860-408-1336 or via email at simsburyfreelibrary@gmail.com.
